The Process of Marriage Courtship

Upon becoming an adult – around 10,000 days or 27 years old, our first duty to our family relationship is to seek a spouse and enter into a life long relationship.

We encourage members to get married around 10,000 days or 27 years of age, so that they are ready to start a family. The purpose of getting married is to start a family, thus we urge couples to have children soon after marriage.

This is our church’s take on the courtship process:

The couple’s parents make the arrangement to introduce the couple to each other. The couple decides whether they would like to enter into a 22-day courtship. After the 22-day courtship finishes, the brother initiates proposal to the sister. Sister can then decide to accept the marriage proposal. Once accepted, the two are engaged.

The parents make the arrangement, but ultimately it is the couple’s choice to marry each other.

Once married, we have a tradition of waiting 22 days before the newly-wed couple can consummate their marriage.
